The headquarters of the Swiss National Bank is located in two separate buildings in Bern and Zurich and was established on 16 June 1906. It has a different ownership than most central banks. While 78% of the bank is publicly owned, 22% is publicly traded on the stock exchange. The bank is responsible for regulating monetary policy and issuing the Swiss franc in coins or banknotes. Its main task is to maintain economic balance and price stability, and to protect the value of the Swiss Franc.
